AFAS SUPER 4; Analysing the Female teams’ chances

The Super 4 might have been concluded now if not for certain setbacks. The champions would certainly have been known by now for sure. However, the recent setbacks that caused the postponement of the Super 4 have allowed a chance to analyse the various departmental female teams’ chances of winning the Super 4. Female football has grown over the past years and particularly over the past months, some female teams have become considerably better which has led to some of them being in the Super 4. How well can they perform? Who is the favourite?

Communication and Language Arts
CLA’s female team was unarguably the best last session. They are the current defending champions of Super 4 and Dean’s cup. 95% of their team last session contributed to the faculty team who were champions of the Inter-Faculty competition last session. They made a mark by winning their first two trophies in their history. They defeated European studies 2-1 to win the Super 4 and religious studies on penalties to lift the Dean’s cup for the first time. The major issue with the team now is the departures of most of their star players. Only one of the players from the trophy-winning team is left and they are now left to rebuild with new players. If they can rebuild well enough and the new structure can gel on time, it might be another trophy-winning season for them.

Religious Studies
They were the dark horses last season who almost won the Dean’s cup last session. They were on a fairytale run last season in the Dean’s cup the last session defeating European Studies and History on their way to the final and almost defeating CLA in the finals almost on penalties. They still have their structure as only one of their fairy tale team has left. Their coach last season has also departed the team. The new coach will come with new ideas. Hopefully, the new ideas will encourage another fairy tale run that will end with them winning the trophy. Their chances to win are quite high.

Archaeology and Anthropology
They are probably the strongest team in the Super 4. They still have structure as none of their starting five have left. They reached the Semi-finals of the Deans’cup last session only to be ousted by CLA on penalties. They also reached the semi-finals of the Super 4 last session by being champions the previous session but they were also beaten by CLA 1-0 in normal time, this time, particularly with their structure still being in place, they appear to be favourites for the Super 4 trophy. Their good attacking and defensive structure are still in place. They also still have their goalkeeper who was one of the best goalkeepers in the faculty during the last session. They will surely be a hard team to beat.

European Studies
They are still one of the strongest teams in the faculty. Like Archaeology and Anthropology, they still have their structure although they lost one of their star defenders. European Studies female team at least reaches the semi-finals of any faculty competition. They reached the finals of the Super 4 last session where they were beaten by CLA. They reached the semi-finals of the Dean’s cup last session where they were defeated by religious studies on penalties. In the last three sessions, they have at least always reached the semi-finals of any faculty football competition. They can reach the extra mile by finally lifting a trophy by winning Super 4. They have a good team who can achieve this motive.
