IPTLC sets to organise ART Nexus event

The Intellectual Property and Technology Law Club (IPTLC) has announced ART NEXUS, an Art Conference to promote intellectual property protection.

The conference which was designed, according to the organizers, to help youths with a career in the Arts understand the value of their intellectual property and how to protect it has been scheduled to be held 1st of April, 2023 by 12pm at LPI Innovation Hub, Appleton (Tech) Road, University of Ibadan.

“The Art Nexus seeks to help artists, artistes, artisans learn how to identify and protect their increasingly valuable intellectual property. Prevention is better than cure. And the first step to prevention is acquiring the right knowledge”, the publicity article for the event reads in part.

Speaking to AFAS Press about the event, Mr. Joshua Solomon the Programme’s Director at IPTLC mentioned that to be successful in the arts, creativity is essential and knowing how to effectively protect and maximise it, emphasising that many art creatives do not know they have absolute authority on their piece(s) hence the need for proper orientation which is the goal of the organization.

“Participants, upon completion of the event, must have understood why protection of Intellectual Property is vital to the success of any Nigerian Creative affirming the team’s goal as the promotion of Intellectual property protection amidst the youth. The student environment is our primary target audience” he said.

The Keynote Speaker for the event is Busola Bakinson, a Senior Associate and team lead in the Intellectual property department of Olaniwun Ajayi. The Panelists include Lola Shoneyin, a renowned author; Olayiwola Isaac Ayomide, popularly known as Layi Wasabi; Onyinye Odita, an awardee of Honourable J.O Ogunbiyi’s star price as the Best Graduating student in Jurisprudence and legal theory; Faith Adeoye also known as Faiththephotographer, one of the most exciting creatives in the University of Ibadan student community.
