A hat trick from Dara sealed the win for CLA at the third-place match of the Super 4 competition that took place in SUB Pitch on Sunday, 2nd of April 2023.
A few minutes after the start of the match, CLA played a couple of free kicks and corners which CLA’s top striker, Dara took, but could not convert into a goal. The goalpost and the goalie prevented a near goal from her at 6 minutes of kickoff. 8 minutes to the start of the match another attempt went begging after a freekick went over the bar.
Freekicks was the route to creating chances in the opening minutes of the game as ESF’s best forward, Solace, played a couple of freekicks which she could not convert into a goal early enough.
However, 10 minutes into the match Dara shoot a freekick which Ife, ESF goal stopper, could not stop, giving CLA a 1 nil lead.
A miscue from a CLA defender almost cost the CLA team, but ESF No 2 could not make good use of the opportunity. Solace made a beautiful attempt towards the goalpost but could not finish after a strong block by the CA rearguard.
Dara shoots the ball off target yet again after two more attempts from a free-kick shoot.
The second goal then came before the end of half-time. Biola made a perfect pass to Dara which she converted into an exciting second goal to extend CLA’s lead by two goals.
During the second half, ESF pegged CLA back by one goal after Solace’s brilliant shot went past the CLA goalie into the net making the match 2 goals to 1. Olamide at the midfield blocked a shot for CLA that was heading into the net. Samiat and Olamide also blocked several other attempts that could have ended up as goals.
4 minutes to the end of the match Dara once again amazed the spectators with yet another goal from the freekick settling the match at 3 goals to 1 with a hattrick.
By the end of the competition, CLA female team was presented a certificate of participation as third-place winners.
