The best thing about hairdos is that whenever you look for a new look, you’re going to find one. We always find a way to invent new styles and/or tweak already existing ones. Here are a few trending styles, you might pick an inspiration for your next hairdo.
Goddess Braids
Goddess braids are the hottest braid styles right now. Nobody wants to keep doing just plain brands over and over again. You can tweak your braids by letting the extension fall freely after knotting them at the roots or midway into the strand, that is not braiding it completely, and just letting it fly, fly, butterfly, yes you get it.
Also, another version of these goddess braids is the style where all the strands are braided down to the end and then knotted, leaving just the tips free.
Butterfly Locs
This is “butterfly braids, but make it locs”. Take a break from the normal straight crochet locs, get butterflies!
Flat Twists
This is the new wave. You should try this. This is a stunning evolution from the usual cornrows. You know cornrows or ‘ghana weaving ‘, yeah; so instead of weaving, the hair is twisted on the scalp, just like cornrows. It is a very beautiful hairdo, I think everything about twists is beautiful. The flat twist is a protective hairstyle and can last as long as cornrows.
African Threading
The interesting thing about this new hairstyle is it has been in existence right from time. But it has now evolved into something Gen Z can gladly do, it has become more chic, and that’s why the new name is Sexy African Threading (SAT), back then I knew it as songas (a blending of ‘some gaps’).
Threads are wrapped/tied around the hair strands, but the threads don’t completely cover the whole hair, there are spaces/gaps in between, letting hair puff, hence the old name ‘some gaps’.
It is 100% a protective hairstyle, so long as it is not tight on the scalp. It also goes if you want to pull off a bold black woman look, especially if you use a colored thread for black hair.
