7 Reasons You Should Not Read Ahead For Your Exams

Your eye no dey pain you. Yes, I know you’ve been drinking garri morning, afternoon, evening, night, and midnight, but I wrote what I wrote and you read what you read.

Don’t stop now, read till the end and you’ll see that na better advice I dey give you. You should know I can’t see pit in front and push you inside. Follow closely:

1. Last last, school na scam
Yes. I said what I said. If you’ve been hearing it and doubting, today, I’m confirming it. Don’t doubt again.

What will you use Classics to do? Or is it this same Nigeria that you want to do anthropology? You want to use German to buy pepper beside your house? You get me? You get me.

2. Where will you put all the semester’s activities?

I mean, it’s ninth week, I know. But there’s also UI connect, swim and swam picnic, Jaw War (trust me, you don’t want to be told), theatre arts performances here and there. And you want to read? Please, enjoy your life. It’s part of education.

3. Reading for long hours damages your sight

Ask any scientist you know. Only you, you want to do TDB, MTN. Shiorr! You’ll just faint when the exam finally comes. So what’s now the use? You gained all the wisdom in books, but you lost your health. Ko make sense. Re-strategize.

4. You always understand better when you read 2 hours to the exam

If you think I’ve been lying since, you know this is true. How did you do it in 100 level? Last semester? You now want to change? Your brain will notice and it won’t cooperate.

Finish the whole syllabus the night before, that’s the way to go. Don’t worry, you will cover. If you don’t cover, God will cover for you.

5. Nobody should tell you what to do

I mean, there’s no motivational speaker that you will go to that won’t tell you to prepare ahead. Ask them if that has taken them anywhere. Ask them if ahead can’t prepare for you.

Look, I’m the only one that will tell you the truth. Why should any lecturer even tell you what questions to answer in the exam? If you don’t know the answer, set your own questions and answer them. I tell you, your creativity will be rewarded. Be assertive! Be your own person.

6. Why worry?

It’s not like I’m shading or anything o, but you’re in 300 level and your CGPA is 1.something. Do you think the stress is necessary? What will be will be o? You’ll still graduate with honours—not academic, but honour regardless.

Elon Musk and daddy Zuckerberg dropped out of school and they still have money. Watch and learn. In the end, what will be will be.

7. Reading for exams show lack of confidence

Let’s ignore the fact that our lecturers don’t trust us first. I mean, we already told them in class that we understand, why do they need to test us again? That one is matter for another day.

You gangan, why don’t you trust yourself? Reading for exams show that you don’t trust your brilliance; you’re trying to tell your brain that you’re a dullard. Is that what you’re saying? Trust yourself, fam. Go there and prove your brain worthy.

After all I’ve said, if you decide to pack my words and throw them away, it’s your loss. A word, they say, is enough for the wise.
