AFASIEC Announces Election Date, Releases Election Calendar

AFAS Electoral Committee (AFASIEC) has announced Thursday, July 20, 2023 as election date into the contested executive offices in the Association.

The electoral body, tagged Association of Faculty of Art Students Independent Electoral Committee (AFASIEC), has made this recent disclosure, outlining the sequence of activities in the imminent election of the Association.

Announcing the release which was jointly signed by the Chairman and Public Relations Officer of the committee, Mikail Sulaimon and Adigun Olatunji, noted that the anticipated election processes will be hybrid, both online and physical.

The Committee revealed that technique for voting will be fully online, while other electoral activities will be held physically and streamed on the Committee’s provided links.

Highlighting who the eligible voters in the election will be, the Electoral Committee disclosed that only financial members of the Association (students who have paid the obligatory annual basic due) will have access to the accreditation procedure when it commences.

“Only Afasites who have paid their basic dues will be eligible for accreditation for the election,” the special release read.

Announcing the schedule of activities towards the election, the Committee fixed 10am on Monday, July 17, 2023 for screening of candidates and Tuesday, July 18, 2023 for the routine Press Night at 2pm. The Committee also fixed 2pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 as Speech or Manifesto Night, while the e-Voting poll will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
