#AFASDECIDES – AFASIEC Assures AFASites of Fair Poll, Acknowledges Concerns

The Association of Faculty of Art Students Electoral Committee (AFASIEC) has on Thursday, 20 July restated its commitment in organizing a free and fair electioneering poll.

Speaking with AFAS PRESS, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Sulaimon Mikail, noted that the ongoing election will be credible and transparent.

“We assure AFASites that the election is going to be very fair and transparent. As the Electoral Chairman, I understand the immense responsibility and trust placed in the electoral committee to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible election process. I want to assure each and everyone that we are fully committed to upholding the democratic values and principles that underpin our electoral system as an Association.”

Addressing the strand of concerns that have been raised in the election which is still in progress, Sulaimon Mikail has urged every eligible voter to see themselves as decision makers without external influence.

“It is also important to mention that we have got several messages from people that people are being incited to vote against aspirants. However, the electoral committee believe that AFASites will make right choices in the poll.”

While some eligible voters have had a successful attempt with voting, few drawbacks like non-simultaneous mailing, log-in difficulties, and the delayed arrival of the web technician at the designated watch room have been issues under review.
