The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, has advised fresh students to get themselves involved in governance.

This statement was made during the 2022/2023 Freshers Orientation program at the International Conference Centre of the university.

He emphasized that asides them focusing on their primary reason in school, having important leadership skills will expose them to democratic processes that will prepare them for life outside the University campus.

He also encouraged them to get involved in campus politics but in a responsible manner which would not jeopardise their academic sojourn. He added that they should ensure to make use of all the facilities including the Kenneth Dike Library for their academic success.

Finally, he advised them to join relevant extracurricular organisations on campus that will add value to their lives, and they should always make enquiries whenever the need arises.
