UI Emerges First, Wins other Prizes at the All Nigerian Universities Debate

The University of Ibadan has emerged as the most outstanding institution in the 10th edition of the All Nigerian Universities Debating Championship competition , which was held on Saturday, September 2, being the only institution with a podium finish in the two categories of the competition.

The students representing the University of Ibadan won multiple prizes at the just concluded competition. At the competition’s grand finale, UI emerged overall winner in the public speaking category, and third place in the debate category.

One of the institution‘s representatives in the public speaking category, Mary Adigun, emerged overall winner at the grand finale after a series of rounds.

In the same vein, the institution’s representatives in the debate category, Adebayo Abdulrahman and Mclaniyi Sapphire, emerged overall third after several stages in the debate held in a British Parliamentary Style.

The University of Ibadan team in the competition consisted of six debaters, two public speakers, and two adjudicators.

The debate team had Habeeb Abdul, Adebayo Abdulrahman, Sapphire Mclaniyi, Aisha Yusuf, Kareem Abdullahi and Deborah Peter, the public speaking team included Mary Adigun and Olayiide Bolaji, and in the adjudicating team were Akinjare David Ayomide and Bello Ruqayyah.
