UI VC Restates the Institution’s Commitment to Its Tradition of Excellence

The Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, has re-emphasised the institution’s commitment towards upholding its tradition of excellence, thereby sustaining the legacy of the founding fathers, at the Induction/Oath Taking ceremony organized by the Postgraduate College for 2022/2023 postgraduate students.

In his speech, Professor Adebowale urged the students to maintain a good character as the degrees of the university are awarded based on character and learning.

He stated that out of 5,136 applicants, 4,170 candidates were recommended for admission by the various departments after their successful performances in the mandatory test of Proficiency in English Language and the subject-based exams of the various departments. While 3285 were subsequently cleared for other post graduate programmes.
He also assured the international students of potential opportunities and guidance through the office of International Programmes.

According to the Provost of the Post Graduate college, Professor A.S.O Ogunjuyigbe, 3,285 students were successfully cleared for various programmes including Post Graduate Diploma, Academic and Professional Masters, M.Phil, PhD and MD for the 2022/2023 session.

He also noted that the college will create an avenue for doctoral students, and this programme will be launched in the first quarter of this year.
