AFAS Press Politics Editor Selected for 2024 AFYMP Campus Journalism Fellowship

AFAS Press newly appointed Politics Editor, Lawal Maruf, has been selected for the African Foundation for Young Media Professionals’ 2024 Fellowship for campus journalism.

Maruf, a student of the Department of Philosophy will be one of the 19 campus journalists selected for the 2024 edition of the fellowship.

The fellowship incorporates a workshop session and a mentorship program for young media practitioners. The notification received by the recipient read in part, “The fellowship will include a two-day training workshop, two online mentorship sessions and 2 community (campus) accountability focused stories.”

The Pan-African non-profit scheme was created to improve professional media practice standards in the African Media Industry curates and targets its training activities towards young and early media practitioners who have practiced for 5 years and or below.
