AFAS FLC Clears Kieran of Financial Misappropriation

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students’ Legislative Council has cleared the former Social Director, Richard Elijah Oluwagbenga popularly known as Kieran of allegations of financial misappropriation leveled against him, following the presentation of a follow-up report at the valedictory session of the house by the Chairperson, Audit and Finance Committee, Hon Bukola Adeyeye.
According to the findings of the committee, #20,000 which was the major cause of the initial investigation was accounted for and utilized for legitimate purposes in line with the association’s activities and the supplementary budget of #100,000 was utilized as intended and within the allocated time frame.
“After thorough investigation and analysis, it is concluded that Mr. Richard, the former Social Director of AFAS, has been cleared of all allegations regarding debts to the association and unpaid bills.”
“The #20,000 sum, which was initially a subject of inquiry, was found to be properly accounted for from the Trade Fair remittance, and all debts were settled through the supplementary budget.”
The report also affirmed that the “misdirected funds” were traced, justified, and appropriately utilized for the activities in the association.
“It was established that funds initially perceived as misdirected were, in fact, used appropriately during the course of the association’s activities.
Additionally, any misdirected funds were traced and justified as legitimate expenses within the association’s operations.”
In adoption of the report, Hon Theophilus and Hon Essien, both from music constituency moved the motion for the adoption of the report clearing the former social director of the financial misappropriation in which the house agreed that letter should be sent to the faculty management and the Press about the findings of the committee.
Recall that Mr Richard Elijah was disqualified from the faculty presidential election race during the 2021/2022 session due to the allegations of financial misappropriation from the faculty legislative council.
