“Don’t Make Any Payment for Now” – UISU Tells Freshers Again

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union, under the leadership of Aweda Bolaji (Oloye), has again urged newly admitted students of the institution to hold off from making any payments until the Union makes further directives.

In the Union’s newly inaugurated executives’ inaugural statement signed by the Union president, Aweda Bolaji and the General Secretary, Ogundijo Japheth, the union made the call to reassure students that work is ongoing to resolve the issue surrounding the hike in fees.

“We have met with university administrators, financial officers, and student representatives to discuss the implications and potential solutions. These meetings have been constructive and have provided us with a clearer understanding of the complexities involved. We are exploring various avenues to ensure students are not overburdened by outrageous fees, and we are hopeful that our ongoing negotiations will yield positive results. We want to assure you that this issue is at the top of our agenda. We are fully aware of the anxiety it has caused, particularly among our Freshers, who are new to the university and are already having to face this teeming crisis.

“However, we urge all students, especially Freshers, to continue to exercise patience. We strongly advise you to hold off on making any fee payment until we have a definitive resolution. We urge you that we are working tirelessly to ensure a favorable resolve,” the statement reads.

The Union further called on students to have faith and the union in the spirit of solidarity to ensure the common interest of the students is protected.
