The Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS)  on Saturday hosted an entrepreneurship webinar that attracted 200 participants following multiple call-outs since Wednesday, August 1st. The event was conducted in a closed WhatsApp group.

The webinar, an initiative of the Assistant General Secretary, Akinsumbo Gbadamosi, started with an introduction to entrepreneurship and the attributes of an entrepreneur. The first speaker, Miss Aarinola Rukayat Adeleke, commenced her presentation covering key business strategies while Hon Aanuoluwapo Adepoju also took a session focusing on practical business tips.

Towards the end of the two-hour session, the AGS rewarded 10 active participants with free Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) business registrations. Additionally, 10 other student-entrepreneurs, who had completed an earlier task, were also promised free business registrations.

It was also revealed that certificates will be delivered privately once ready. Participants received free e-books on entrepreneurship and personal development, and interested business owners were offered a 20% discount on Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) business registration, courtesy of the AGS.

“Treat your side hustle/business like an actual business,” advised Aanuoluwapo Adepoju. He emphasized the importance of proper pricing to avoid bankruptcy while maintaining customer trust.

Aarinola Rukayat Adeleke echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of integrity in pricing, regardless of a customer’s perceived wealth.
