AFAS FLC Commences Process for Electoral Activities

The Faculty of Arts Legislative Council has directed Presidents of Departments across the Faculty to send their nomination for AFAS Independent Electoral Committee (AFASIEC) on or before the end of the 9th Week.
The directive was given in the FLC’s last plenary session held on Friday, 20th December, 2024 after deliberations on the AFAS Election for 2024/2025 Academic Session with emphasis that the clerk of the house should send letters to the presidents on or before Tuesday 24th December, 2024.
Hon. Femi speaking on the Electioneering Process stated relevant sections of the constitution, including Chapter 7 and Article 21 while stressing the need for constituting the Electoral Body.
He reiterated the provision of the law that the AFASIEC is to be constituted not later than the 5th Week of the 2nd Semester and elections conducted on or before 10th week of the 2nd Semester affirming that the peculiarities of this semester should be considered.
Hence, the hallowed chamber agreed that Presidents should be given till the end of the 9th Week of this semester to send in names of departmental representatives for the AFASIEC which will be before school activities resume in January 2025.
