The decision was made by the house in the plenary sitting held on Friday 24th January, 2025 after the President failed to give a clear-cut response to the demands of the Audit Committee on the floor of the house.

The house decided that the President should write an apology letter, copying all concerned authorities and the hard copy of the letter should be submitted to all department presidents in the Faculty of Arts before 5pm on Monday.

Also, the house adopted the recommendations of the Investigative probe panel which stipulated the corrections to be made on the souvenirs in which the expenses is to be covered by the President and the need for completion of the number of souvenirs approved by the house.

“1. That “Rt Honourable” has led to some confusion in the faculty, that part should be altered with a correction fluid.

2. At the back of the book where the last sheet was bummed to the hardcover, there should be an attached sheet to include all FLC members and their constituencies.

3. The cups and the books must be completed before distribution.”

Recall that the FLC Audit Committee had directed the executive council to give explicit explanation on the procurement of AFAS Package after the inspection of the Investigative Probe Panel, which the executive council failed to do.

In a related development, the house concluded to withhold the certificate of excellence of AFAS President, Adeniyi Olamilekan, due to his “failure to serve the association diligently” and his disobedience to some provisions of AFAS constitution.

The decision is part of the recommendations of the AFAS FLC Investigative Probe Panel following the presentation of the report of the committee.

“The President has failed to serve the Association diligently, thus another recommendation is that his certificate of excellence be withheld as Article 47 of the constitution states that prizes and certificates of merit shall be awarded to any officer or member of the Association who has served diligently in the past and present.”
