AFAS FLC Approves Executive, Legislative Budgets for 2024/2025 Session

The Association of Faculty of Arts Students Faculty Legislative Council (AFAS FLC) has approved the executive administrative budget of Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty Naira (₦288,620) for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Office of the President’s proposed budget of Forty-Five Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (₦45,300) was approved without adjustments. The Office of the Vice President proposed Eighty-Three Thousand Naira (₦83,000), which was ratified to Sixty-One Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (₦61,500). The Secretariat, comprising the General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, submitted a proposal of Fifty-Five Thousand Naira (₦55,000), which was adjusted to Fifty-Three Thousand Naira (₦53,000).

Furthermore, the Office of the Financial Secretary’s budget was reduced from Nineteen Thousand, Five Hundred and Fifty Naira (₦19,550) to Fourteen Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (₦14,300). The budget of the Office of the Director of Information and Publicity was increased from Thirty-One Thousand Naira (₦31,000) to Forty Thousand Naira (₦40,000). The Office of the Treasurer’s budget was reduced from Forty-Four Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (₦44,300) to Thirty-Two Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (₦32,300).

During an online sitting conveyed the following day, the budget of the Office of the Director of Sports was reduced from Forty-Four Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty Naira (₦44,820) to Forty-Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty Naira (₦42,220).

The proposed executive budget which amounted to Three Hundred and Twenty-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Naira (₦322,970) was ratified by the house to Two Hundred and Eighty-Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty Naira (₦288,620).

The ratified budget was approved with the motion raised by Hon. Chineze and seconded by Hon. Dunsin.The FLC approved the ratified budget, stating that there would be no room for a supplementary budget during the 2024/2025 academic session.

Similarly, while the FLC welfare budget has not been approved, the FLC approved a sum of Eighty-Six Thousand, Six Hundred Naira (#86,600) for its administrative proceedings and the repair of the FLC office door lock.
