UI STUDENTS BRINGS HONOUR AGAIN WITH NIMASA AWARDS

Three students from College of medicine and a student from the faculty of Law have recently won the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) essay competition.

The event, which was geared towards creating awareness of the tremendous potentials and opportunities in the maritime sector in Nigeria and worldwide, had in participation students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The topic for the essay competition IMO 70: Our Heritage- better Shipping for a Better Future was formulated in line with the theme for the celebration of the World maritime Day.

Thousands of entries were put in for the competition but only ten entries were selected out of which four were by University of Ibadan students.

While Samson Samuel and Joseph Lawal won consolatory prizes of N100, 000 education grant and plaques, Samuel Akanle from faculty of Law and Adedayo Nefufo from the College of Medicine clenched the ultimate prize which was an individual sum of five thousand naira and N300 thousand naira education grant respectively, in addition to a laptop, a plaque and a publication of the winning essay.
