The General Secretary of the Association of the Faculty of Arts Students, Hassan Abdulrasaq, in a response to the allegations levied against him by the Faculty Management through the office of the Sub-Dean said that he is innocent of all allegations.

This was contained in a letter sent to the Students’ Affairs and made available to AFAS PRESS on Monday, 21 November, 2022.

He explained that after the Executive Council meeting that was held to discuss the party, he was ‘intimidated’ to believe that ‘the Call off Party is organized by AKOEM who happens to be the Association’s President and he is the grand host while AFAS is the host which means the president has only partnered with AFAS.’

Abdulrasaq noted that he did not inquire further about the modalities of the party because the President stated that he would not take from the association’s purse.

However, he maintained that he sent a letter of notification to the office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Staff Advisers, and the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts to notify them about the party based on the president’s directive.

“I want to state categorically that neither did I conceive nor conspire with the President in any way whatsoever on the issue of the said “call off party. It was not possible for me to have conceived or colluded with the president on an issue that I was not privy to. I was not privy or party to any discussion pertaining to the “call off party” before the meeting held on the 24th of October,” the letter reads in part.
