AFAS Press News editor Emerges Winner in Law Literary contest

The news editor for Afas press, Tijani Abdulkabeer has emerged as one of the winners of the UI faculty of Law Literary Contest.

This maiden contest was in three categories: Short Story; Poetry; Non-fiction. Abdulkabeer emerged as the winner of the non-fiction category for his entry ‘What Queen Elizabeth II’s Death Exposes about Nigeria.’

The announcement was made in the virtual literary day ceremony which was held to discuss the role of literary works in promoting political consciousness in Nigeria. The virtual event also featured Intellectual Property talks for creative after which the ‘maiden national student anthology’ was launched.

The winners in each of the categories will receive N60, 000 each.
Speaking after he emerged, Abdulkabeer expressed his gratitude to God and said “I know I turned in a strong piece but emerging as the overall winner in my category is what I doubted. I see this as a drive to do more in the field of writing and beyond. I am grateful to my friends, especially my inner circle.”
