BREAKING: AFAS AGS Suspended Indefinitely for misconduct

 The Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Mojuba Olamilekan Adeniyi, of the Association of Faculty of Arts Students (AFAS) has been suspended indefinitely by the AFAS Executive Council.

In a copy of the suspension letter made available to AFAS PRESS, on late hours of Friday, 21 April 2023, the letter stated that the suspension was due to the several misconduct allegations leveled against him.

 “The suspension was as a result of a series of misconducts that have once been overlooked. Recently, the Dean of the Faculty directed the Executive Council to submit spare of the secretariats’ keys to the Faculty Porters in case of emergency.”

 “Meanwhile, the Assistant General Secretary, Mojuba, had already made a duplicate of the keys without a prior notice to the President or other Executive member. By the way, the key was  given to the Sub-Dean who in turn gave it to the Porters as directed by the Dean of the Faculty,” the letter reads in part.

 The council further alleged that the AGS claimed ownership of the AFAS Secretariat keys and efforts through calls and text messages to reach him (20th April, 2023) proved abortive.

 “However, the Assistant General Secretary went to collect the key at later hour of same day (20th April, 2023) claiming ownership of it (it is his property), and while the President and other FLC honorables were trying to reach him (AGS) to return the key to the porters, who were delayed from going home because of the inability to get the key, he did not answer calls or reply messages.”

Meanwhile, the council has also sent the notification of suspension to the AFAS Legislative Council for further investigations.

Mojuba is not the first AFAS Executive council member to be suspended. Recall that the erstwhile Sports’ Director, Alawiye Israel, was also suspended by the executive council before his subsequent impeachment.
