The Culture of Noisemaking in the Faculty Should Come to an End— Dean, Faculty of Arts

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Solomon Oyetade, has appealed to the students of the Faculty of Arts to cultivate the habit of decorum when moving from one class to another. He decried the level of noisemaking and described it as endemic.

He made the appeal on Tuesday while he was addressing the students present at the congress held at large lecture theater, Faculty of Arts.

“The culture of noisemaking should come to an end in the Faculty of Arts. I want to appeal to you very sincerely that you should keep down your voices when you are leaving one class for another,” he said.

Professor Oyetade also urged the students to embrace the tradition of excellence peculiar to the Faculty of Arts and University of Ibadan as a whole.

“It is therefore important to take certain things into consideration as members of the Faculty. We have the tradition of excellence that we must cherish and protect.”

Speaking on the dressing mode of AFASites, the Dean expressed his dissatisfaction and implored the students to always dress in a decent manner.

“Although we don’t have a dressing code in the Faculty of Arts, but we are in a University where we are expected to be formal. It is not proper that you expose all your endowment that God has given you. We are a faculty that places premium on culture and tradition.”

He further advised AFASites to steer clear of any breach of rules and regulations that could lead to appearing before the University or faculty disciplinary committee.
