The SIGMA Club, University of Ibadan, a social philanthropic organisation and the oldest student club in Sub-Saharan Africa, is set to host the 2nd edition of the SIGMA CHIEF’S LEAGUE, a football tournament in the University of Ibadan.

The competition which is tagged “Game On” is scheduled to hold from January 22 to February 4, 2024, consisting of both the male and female categories.

In the words of Loyalist Afolabi Gideon, “the competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, however, DLC students are not allowed”. He also stated that cash prizes, medals and certificates will be presented to winners.

He added that the male team is based on the team selection process, hence there’s a possibility that students from various faculties can be found in just one team.

“The male category consists of 16 teams while the female category consists of 12 departments of the University. The male category is scheduled to play rounds like the Champion’s League where we have home and away games. While the female category on the other hand is to play 6 knockouts, leaving 6 teams to compete for the winning champion,” he concluded.
