Two AFAS Press Members Clinch Kola Tubosun Prize at UCJUI Award Dinner

Two AFAS Press members, Opemipo Olukoga and Agnes Oyedokun, have emerged among the four winners of the inaugural Kola Tubosun Prize for best graduating campus journalists.
Their emergence was announced during the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), University of Ibadan handover and award ceremony, themed: Beaking News in Bridgerton: A Regency in Scoop, which took place on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at the Sultan Bello Hall Dome, University of Ibadan.
Opemipo Olukoga, the immediate past Deputy Editor-in-Chief of AFAS Press, and Agnes Oyedokun, the immediate past Features Editor of AFAS Press, emerged winners alongside other campus journalists.
Reacting to this recognition, Opemipo expressed her gratitude and also encouraged others to brace up for the challenges ahead.
“I am deeply grateful for this award. Campus journalism has had a positive impact on my life, and I’ve learnt many lessons in the process. To all campus journalists, I encourage you to persevere and embrace the positive influence of this field. While it can be demanding and challenging, the lessons learned and the knowledge gained far outweigh the hardships. It’s an exciting and fulfilling experience,” She said.
The winners were selected from a longlist of seven top student journalists across different local press organisations in the University of Ibadan.
This recognition, which comes with a cash prize, a book voucher, a plaque, and an internship opportunity with a national newspaper, further pinpoints AFAS Press as a leading local press organisation in the University of Ibadan.
